Jan. 19th, 2002 01:36 amDidn't walk in the end; it was raining and I felt crap, so I went to Sainsbury's and picked up some sandwiches, wine and chocolate, and then got a taxi to Empire. Was rather early, but chatted to mcv for a while. Then R and M arrived at about the same time, and mcv left R to generate his character (it's quite a faff in new Rolemaster!) while M and I carried on with the campaign.
Very exciting and dangerous session; D's character Paul had to be written out, so when he said he was going into town to do a deal, we went with him. Lost track of him underground (I was tracing him magically) so we called up Oliver and got him to direct us to their location. Got into a disused Underground station, and walked along the lines, then entered a service tunnel and side branch off it. Walked for ages; eventually found route into crypt under some disused church. Various skeletons lying about; found two guys asleep in a side-place as guards. Killed one; interrogated the other for a little information. Let him go; he then set off an alarm, so we wasted him. Carried on and found main area where Paul was being tortured by evil studly guy and his henchmen (for information of some sort). Tried to take them on, but failed. I did lots of teleporting about and dodging bullets; all very Matrix. M and I got hit by a couple of grenade blasts; we were close to unconsciousness.
Evil dude began animating the skeletons all around us in the catacombs, so we teleported out. Found ourselves in a room above the main crypt, where I stopped M from bleeding, and then we broke through the door and found a spiral staircase leading both up and down. Ran up it; heard sounds of pursuit. Got into a church in the end; ran down the aisle, being shot at just as we got through the door out. Found three-wheeler waiting for us outside, organised by Oliver. Drove like hell back to our house. M was on about 15 HP; I was on 7! All very close-cut. R's character should join us next week; hopefully he will provide some heavy weaponry :-) Also will have drug-dealing skills, apparently.
After the session, watched Falcon's Eye nethack on mcv's machine. It sucks compared to real nethack. It reminds me a little of Heroquest. Then R decided to get back home, and offered lifts. I was delighted to avoid the walk back, and left then. My cold doesn't seem as bad as it might. Will try to get lots of sleep tonight.
Have an interesting idea in the back of my mind, about future possibilities; but let's just see.
