Jan. 31st, 2002 07:07 pmSo, to take up the story of Saturday. G and I got up around midday. The house was chaotic for a while; one of the skaters tried to make pancakes (he asked us "what do you make pancakes out of? Is it just eggs, flour and water?" We said "no! milk, not water!") but managed to burn them spectacularly. D, his girlfriend and another skater guy were smoking dope on D's bed; it took ages to get them to leave the house, but eventually we walked to a nearby cafe and had very nice full cooked breakfast. Then went back to the house, where one of the skaters wrestled with another one on D's bed, choking him until he puked on the bed. We decided it was time to leave at this point! We went to Camden, hoping to get Whitby tickets at Resurrection Records, but annoyingly they hadn't arrived there yet, so we'll just have to send off for some instead.
Then went to the Devonshire Arms to have a few drinks. E and A were there, by chance, and we all chatted for a while. A middle-aged biker guy came and talked to us for a bit too, about the old biker gangs who used to hang out in the Dev. E asked the DJ to play Slayer's "Deviance" for me, which I was very pleased about. G had already borrowed my black nail varnish; at this point he borrowed my black and silver liquid eyeliner, and decorated his eyes in bizarre and impressive ways. After the Dev, we went to another pub, the Grafton Arms, where a bunch of London goths who E and G knew were meeting. Ran into MR, an annoying ex-Cambridge guy who I know; also L, a very striking TV who I met at BiCon a couple of years ago. G went off to the loo to shave and put on even more makeup.
Some guys from Channel 4 were filming in the pub; they interviewed E and A outside afterwards. E was wearing a silly floppy hat at the time; he was very drunk and couldn't quite recall what he'd said, but thought it included "We just like to go out and get drunk and have a shag" :-) Transpired later that the filming was for a news item shown last night, about the recent German murder by two goth/vampire/satanist types. It's probably just as well they never broadcast the interview with E and A, after all!
Then jumped on the tube and all went off to Slimelight. I've never been there before; it was a great place. I spent a good while dancing on the industrial floor, but also on the main goth floor. Met lots of G's London friends whose names I've now forgotten. Since Slimelight lasts till 7am, G had got some Pro-Plus to keep him awake. He took 8 of them in 2 hours, which is far more than you're supposed to take. He also drank an enormous amount, enough to make him pass out under normal circumstances, but apparently the tablets prevented this, so he was just horribly, incredibly, embarassingly drunk! He knelt down on the dancefloor and asked me to marry him at one point; 10 minutes later he said he didn't want to after all; he insulted numerous people or otherwise pissed them off; he threatened to deck MR for no reason at all; he got annoyed with me for no discernible reason; he then became incredibly depressed and weird when the club finally ended.
I dragged him off to King's Cross, where we ate some sandwiches on the platform waiting for the next train home. At this point, and for the next few hours, G became incredibly horny, molesting me on the train, trying to get me to go into the train loo to have sex, making highly dodgy comments in the hearing of other passengers... all very amusing. At last, back in Cambridge, I paid for a taxi back to college, where we went to bed and slept for several hours. In the evening, G had recovered somewhat, and spent a long time saying "Oh God, did I really do that?" while I would say, "Yes, you really did. And also these other things..." It was very amusing. We then went back to G's place, where he played online shoot-em-ups for several hours, and then read until about 4am. I think the Pro-Plus still hadn'd worn off.
Right, will carry on with this tomorrow, and try to get up to date again. Must go to Sainsbury's now, and then walk to G's again.
