May. 28th, 2002 02:12 pmActually I guess there is a bit more to say :-) G and I worked all last week at the beer festival, and had a great time. G seemed to fit in very well with the other security guys, and I got to work mostly on the cider bar (which I prefer, since I know more about cider than beer, and the most interesting part of the job is being able to suggest drinks to people who want advice). Saw many people I know coming up to the bar, but was mostly too busy to really chat to them - I think G had a better job in that respect! I couldn't believe some people, though - one old guy leant on the bar watching me work for a couple of hours, in which time I didn't have a single moment's opportunity even to grab a drink of my own - then when there was finally a brief lull, and I took a swig from my glass, he said, "It's alright for some, isn't it? Nice cushy number you've got there, able to drink all day!" It's not as if we get paid, anyway.
But, free meals c/o Cambridge Cheese Company are very nice, and there were staff drinks each night after the sessions, and there was a staff party on Sunday where I chatted much to
sphyg,
emperor and MC, and we got to take home lots of cheap or free Cassell's afterwards (hence my extreme inebriation last night). On Saturday, G's parents visited briefly, and also came to the beer festival, and we had serious discussions about Money and Futures, but all was cool in the end.
I still haven't had a moment to fix my computer, and have been very irregular in checking my email recently. Hopefully things should improve soon (just in time for me to be swamped by exam marking next week!) G has a job interview tomorrow - hurray!
