vyvyanxVery busy recently. Saturday afternoon went to housewarming barbecue and party at MCV, J and S's new place. Very nice house; good time generally. Sunday we went to Welwyn to see G's family - had lovely meal and various serious chats :-) G's mother seems content for us to sleep in the same room now!
Came back Monday morning, and helped G back to my room because he had injured his foot in some unspecified way. Then I hurried off to his place to pick up documentation, back to mine to collect my documentation and G, and then to the registry office on Castle Hill to give notice of marriage. Which was quite amusing. They ask you all sorts of strange questions, about yourself and the person you want to marry. It also costs L60 :-( Then helped G back to his place, where we spent some time trying to sort out somewhere for the reception. Early December seems a bad time for organising receptions; everywhere is already booked for works Christmas parties! But we will look into various halls for hire, that sort of thing.
Tuesday G was feeling ill, so I went to see the place on Mill Road by myself. It's not too far out of the centre, there are obviously plenty of shops nearby, it has cable, and it's about the cheapest two-person accommodation we're likely to find in town. It is pretty small, and has very little kitchen area to speak of, and no bath, but I think it's liveable-in. So I think we'll go for it. Unfortunately the letting agency are unhappy with the fact my job runs out in a couple of months, and will require 6 months' rent up front. Which is annoying, and will mean I have to dip into my savings, which I really didn't want to do. But we suspect any agency would have a similar policy, so I don't have much choice.
Today G is going to Kelly's to be assessed. I have to find out various details for the credit rating form. Grr. Everything is being rather difficult atm.
