Well, yesterday I went and bought exciting cheese from the Cheese Company (Epoisses, Mountain Gorgonzola and Cambridgeshire Gum Burner - a local cheddar) which G and I ate a bit of. They were every bit as delicious as I expected. Also worked on my Armenian list. Although Modern Armenian is very far-removed in time from Proto-Indo-European, and forms a branch all on its own, unconnected to other Indo-European subfamilies, it is still remarkably retentive of basic vocabulary. It's very cool, though St Mesrop's alphabet is rather silly. I wanted to collect this list to complete my representation of Indo-European subfamilies for my subgrouping program, but I've just remembered about Tocharian. Blast. _That_'ll be fun to collect.
G wrote a short story for his livejournal, we finished up a bottle of gin I had lying around, and then went off to the pub. Everyone was downstairs for a change, and it was pretty crowded, to the extent that G got rather claustrophobic at one point, and had to go outside for a bit. Chatted to GC about tsunamis, disaster movies, lj and so on, to GB about my parents, and to E about housing and jobs. He's thinking of looking for a job in the University, which sounds cool. Also saw DM and BC in the pub, and even that random guy from Viagra Falls, who's apparently called Adrian. He told me he was no longer with Viagra Falls, as they'd kicked him out. I commiserated, but he said it was ok, as he wasn't a particularly good guitarist anyway :-)
After the KSR, hung around outside for a bit, chatting to an Australian guy I met at the Calling, who always used to hang around with E. Also saw another guy I recognise but whose name I don't know, who'd been drawing pictures of me at the last Calling! The pictures only showed my body below the neck, but it's still quite flattering :-) G, E, GC, T and K ran off briefly to set off a firework in a litter bin; I'm not quite sure why. Then everyone wandered off, several to go to E's for some dope, I think. G was rather disappointed we weren't invited, but we went back home and drank some port in compensation.
Today, on logging in, I am overwhelmed by several things. My ex D has discovered my lj (which I suppose I should have expected, once I started adding people we both knew to my friends list). He's started writing in his lj again, quite a bit about me. I'm dismayed that he still seems upset about our break-up, and is avoiding me in social situations. Hopefully, as he says, we can be more comfortable with each other after some more time has passed.
Also, I now have a paid account, due to the generosity of [livejournal.com profile] meirion. I'm very grateful, though I admit to being somewhat perplexed as to why she chose me. I shall have to explore the additional features of my new account now.
This evening, am having a small impromptu gathering in my room, which people who know me should feel free to come to. It will doubtless involve alcohol, and, um, more alcohol.

Mood: nebulous but mostly cheerful
