This week G and I have been playing much Dungeon Siege. G has now completed it; I have started three simultaneous campaigns with different party compositions (one mainly fighter party, one mage party, one completely "balanced" party). I haven't been so into a game for a long time.
Wednesday night we went to watch films at GB's place - saw Heat again (always a cool film) and the beginning of The Million Dollar Hotel. Yesterday and today G has been quite ill - he went to the doctor yesterday, and should hopefully improve soon.
I went to the doctor's on Wednesday too - just for an initial check-up with the nurse, since I'm joining a new practice on Mill Road (after 10 years at the Bridge Street Surgery). The nurse I saw was really nice and concerned with my welfare - she was so helpful and friendly. She did however say that I should drink less and eat more :-)
Today I suddenly got a call from the OU in the East Midlands - they may be interested in my application! Very exciting - will keep fingers crossed. Would be for the English language (history and socio) course, and based in Northampton, which would mean quite a lot of train journeys, though. Still, they make appointments for 8 years, which would be a great relief after spending so long living my life on a temporary basis.
Tonight we roleplayed again. All of us were there, for the first time for a while. It was an exciting session - after much planning, we raided an arms convoy in the Overcity, to obtain guns and ammo for the zombie horde headed by Anubis (whom we decided to side with after much debate). The raid itself went very smoothly, rather to our surprise - Asagawa shot out the tyre of a car in front of the convoy; I teleported a couple of grenades into the APC heading the convoy; Asagawa took out the motorcyclist at the back of the convoy; Philip and Law gunned down the drivers and passengers of the three trucks in the convoy; then Oliver, Tate and Asagawa drove the trucks back to the entrance to the Undercity at a rate of knots (my character had acquired fairly elite driving skills earlier in the session, after a particularly lucky roll), while Philip and Law (and a small squad of zombies) took out most of the military presence which arrived shortly afterwards (4 helicopters included!), then made their getaway on
bikes. It would have made a fantastic film sequence (unlike last week's session, which would only have worked in the artiest of arts films :-)

I have now gathered together all my roleplaying campaign reports from my lj in a memories section (accessible from my profile page), which may be of interest to the others in my RMSS group. (Note that sometimes the actual roleplaying bits are buried in the midst of a long entry mostly about other things; I don't know whether it's possible to edit memories entries without modifying the original diary entry, IYSWIM.)
I forgot to mention that this Thursday we had a flat inspection. G and I worked for hours cleaning and tidying the place until it looked really beautiful; eventually a guy came round, glanced in each room and made a couple of marks on a form, and then went, saying everything was fine. I can't believe I spent an hour cleaning the oven alone, and he didn't even look in it! What a waste of effort :-) Of course, G pointed out that if I had failed to clean the oven so carefully, they would without doubt have examined it with a fine-tooth comb and complained.
