Strange, I haven't felt motivated to write anything here for some time. Various things have happened. Thursday before last a group of Camgoths went to Coventry for Heresy (lack of Calling, and to return their visit :-) [livejournal.com profile] zotz kindly gave us and [livejournal.com profile] davefish a lift; [livejournal.com profile] surje and [livejournal.com profile] grahamb also came along, and we saw [livejournal.com profile] lhiss there for the first time in a while, which was cool. Chatted to [livejournal.com profile] mrph, of course - thanks for the drinks! I liked Heresy; the place itself reminded me of the Q and the music was good. It was a bit cold though.
Last weekend we went to the winter ale festival in APU. I was much better-behaved than at the corresponding beer festival last year! Saw many people - chatted much to [livejournal.com profile] mobbsy, [livejournal.com profile] zotz, [livejournal.com profile] simonb and to MR and MW. On the Saturday night, wangled staying on afterwards for staff beer (despite not actually being staff on this occasion). G bought an awful yellow stewards' top to wear at the beer festival this summer, and did a little stewarding on Saturday night too.
On Tuesday night, G's friend DE and his American fiancee C came up to visit. We'd planned to take them out to a curry place on Mill Road, but it transpired that C didn't eat spicy food, so we took them to the Kingston instead. Unfortunately, neither of them like beer, so after the meal we moved to the Six Bells for a drink. Ran into MR again there, following a poetry meeting at CB1. Listened to awful 80s music on the jukebox, then headed home to watch Red Dwarf, get very drunk, and discuss religion (!) The next day, G didn't make it into work, so we all got up very late, and then went into town to show DE and C the sights. Ended up at the KSR.
Thursday we were back at the Kingston to see MW (it had struck me that it was silly to live so close and not meet up more often). Had nice meal, then back to his place to talk about Operations We Have Had and similar pleasant topics :-) G borrowed Star Fraction off him, and is currently devouring it.
On Friday, [livejournal.com profile] emperor gave us a much-appreciated lift over to [livejournal.com profile] robinbloke's place for his Monkey party. It was most amusing to see Monkey again - I had only the faintest recollections of it from when I was a child. R made lovely food, and I got really really drunk. Yesterday I had a terrible hangover all day (the worst I've had for a couple of years, I think). R gave us a lift back into town - thanks!
ATM, I am troubled because I still haven't been sent the course material for the OU course I'm supposed to start teaching next month (due to administrative errors and delivery service incompetence). I have also been unable to contact the relevant courier service since they never seem to answer their phones. I feel a bit stuck as I have to write to the students about now, welcoming them to the course. It's a bit hard introducing people to a course when you have only the sketchiest idea of what it entails!
I also need to sort out all sorts of tax stuff (I am owed tax back for various reasons). And I'm waiting for some sort of response from OUP about my book (2nd reviewer seems positive, but has yet to write their full report). And both G and I need to find work ASAP (G's job ends this month, and my OU job is very part-time and won't pay the rent, so I need something else as well). And communication with my parents seems to have broken down again (bugger). And I'm still losing weight, without meaning to, and don't know why (well under 8 stone now, I think).
So, many things happening!
