Jun. 1st, 2003 11:09 amYesterday I was filled with angst over one of my OU students, who had plagiarised their most recent essay (probably unintentionally, but I still have to take it very seriously). After sending off their marked assignment, I decided to ring them for a brief chat, to soften the blow. But I'm crap on the phone and fear I just made it worse; they sounded very upset.
So in the evening, to take my mind off it, G persuaded me to go over to Castle Mound to sit and chat with goths. We took several cans of Scrumpy Jack and went to join
zotz,
grahamb,
davefish and a couple of other people whose lj names I don't know (if indeed they have ljs). The sun set redly; the temperature slowly fell; the stars emerged (I was reliably informed, though my glasses weren't quite up to seeing them myself :-) and I was in my most sociable state for some reason - actually able to participate happily in a conversation involving more than one other person. When it got rather cold, we went down the hill and most of the others played with G's new programmable frisbee; then we went to the Castle for a last drink.
zotz walked back with us afterwards in the direction of Mill Road, and we had a most enjoyable chat about moral issues related to deafness, vegetarianism, and utilitarianism. Back in the flat, we found to our delight that we'd managed to download an episode of Black Books at last, so we watched that, and then rewatched the first two episodes of B5. Were very struck by how crap Londo and Vir's hairdos were in the early episodes.
