Jun. 26th, 2003 10:52 amVarious things have happened. I have defrosted the freezer (long overdue) resulting in a partial flooding of the kitchen - clumsy me. G and I went to the Eraina last night, since he's never been there. It hasn't changed really, since 1992. Also, on Tuesday, finally got round to dyeing my hair again - now bright red - ready for the Calling, which was much fun, and contained an unexpected
zotz. Several other people seemed to have recently dyed their hair red as well - it must be the season for it.
Last Saturday contained much train-related angst, since I couldn't get directly to Leicester for my OU tutorial, and had to go via London. Very hot and stressful, and very little time in between trains to buy additional tickets and ring the centre to warn my students I'd be late. I didn't even know if they'd got the message until I reached the teaching room 40 minutes late - I half expected them all to have got bored and gone home. But happily, the caretaker had passed on the message and they all stayed there, so we got to have a rather abridged tutorial on Child Language Acquisition (a subject of which I have absolutely zero personal experience, but the theory of which I am quite familiar with).
As a piece of good news the OU in the East Midlands have said they'll almost certainly be able to take me on again next year. If I can get a couple of teaching groups next year, I might actually earn enough to cover my rent :-)
We went to visit my parents a couple of weekends ago as well. They seem generally much better-disposed to G now. The highlight of the weekend was meeting their new cat Robbie, who is gloriously huge and very friendly.
Life is generally going quite well atm (touch wood).
Oh, and if anyone's interested:
