Had enjoyable time at the Calling last night, chatting much to an unexpected [livejournal.com profile] ewx, [livejournal.com profile] ptc24 and [livejournal.com profile] mobbsy, largely about Starcraft and early writing systems of the world, AFAIR. Sorry if I became boring :-) [livejournal.com profile] robinbloke played a great set, and gave us a lift home afterwards, which was cool.

The Today program on Radio 4 this morning had a bizarre item in which two Arts types argued about whether Chekhov was relevant to modern society. I would have thought that was more Radio 3 territory, but maybe they were just short of topical discussion material.

I'm drunk and very tired, but still think this is a very interesting body of information and argument. (Quite craply transcribed, unfortunately, and obviously based on normal informal monologic speech - hence hard to follow in places! - which relied heavily on an accompanying slideshow.) I was particularly struck by the detail about US night temperatures being so affected by aeroplane contrails.
