Dec. 30th, 2004 01:15 pmWell, G and I are back from a few days' visiting our families (in villages near Welwyn Garden City and Thame). Watched all 3 extended version LOTR films (box-set present from G's parents) - splendid fun. Drank much, ate much, argued much with people in a mostly good-natured way (about religion and politics, erm). My mother seemed pleased with her present of Dawkins' new book The Ancestor's Tale, and my dad with his 15yo Bowmore. G gave me Gödel, Escher, Bach which I've been meaning to read for ages, and is also getting me a self-winding watch, which should be cool. I got him a new joystick, which is covered with buttons, blue LEDs, displays, wheels etc. As he said, "If God played flightsims, this would be his joystick".
Despite having a generally nice time, we are both pretty exhausted and parented-out now, and very glad to be back in our flat! Families can be such hard work...
