Dec. 26th, 2005 11:35 amJust back from a very pleasant Christmas with
razornet's family near Welwyn. G's dad drove us down there late on Christmas Eve; we had a meal; then G's mum went to midnight mass and the rest of us wandered to the pub where G's little brother works. (Actually, he's not so little, he's about 6'3...) Much after hours drinking, then back to the house to collapse.
On Christmas Day itself I spent the earlier part of the day reading The Mathematical Universe which
robinbloke gave me - fantastic present, btw - and helping make dinner, while G wrestled with his hangover and tried to fix the tree lights. Casablanca was on, and we watched bits of it. When G's brother got back from his shift at the pub, we opened presents (at about 4pm!) which were very splendid - I now have chocolate, a book about cats, Rushdie's Shalimar the Clown (which looks intriguing) and a blender. Now I can make soups! Then we had dinner (delicious) and G and his middle brother
ianrecon went over to the pub again, while I watched the new Dr Who with his parents. I thought it was pretty good (for modern Dr Who), and prefer Tennant to Ecclestone. Then went to join the others at the pub.
Today, we had to get up unpleasantly early for a Boxing Day, so that G's dad could drive us back up in time for G to get to work. Stella seems to have survived her solitary Christmas (we used an automatic cat feeder, which worked successfully, thank goodness) - I have been spoiling her with lots of treats in compensation.
