This week I have been busy with various things. I followed up to my OU tutorial by contacting all the students who didn't come (by email if possible; by phone if they didn't have email; by letter if I couldn't get through on the phone). They all seem to be coping reasonably well so far, which is good.
I've just sent out an email to my OUP guy about the proposed book, in which I respond to my two reviewers' comments and suggestions. The book proposal should now be considered at the next Delegates' meeting on 4 March.
G and I have been trying to sign on. We have been plagued with administrative errors and confusion, with the result that after two trips to the Jobcentre, I've managed to have my JSA interview and G's has been rescheduled for Monday. It seems plausible that I will get a very small amount of contribution-based JSA; my main reason for signing on, however, is to maintain NI contributions (since my OU job doesn't pay enough to guarantee them otherwise). G probably won't be able to get any JSA at all, unfortunately (due to my savings and his lack of NI contributions in the relevant years), but we'll see on Monday anyway.
On Tuesday G did a couple of sets at the Calling. Had excellent time there, dancing to most of his set, chatting (particularly to naranek, robinbloke and davefish) and drinking.
After much recent alcohol-related angst, G and I agreed on Wednesday not to drink for a month.

I have been off the booze all this month, so we can join each other in misery^W responsible adulthood.

At least until the 1st of March when I shall be laughing.
