Today G and I went swimming at Parkside. When I got back to my locker, I found it had been broken into, violently (the lock had been smashed off with a hammer, presumably). The thieves were remarkably considerate, really - they didn't take my wallet, just removed all the change from it (no more than 2 or 3 quid!). They turned my cashpoint card round (presumably checking it wasn't a credit card) and so the police may come round a bit later to dust for fingerprints. All rather exciting.
A couple of other women had had their lockers broken into at the same time. Frankly, I feel fortunate that I live such a minimalist existence - I have no credit cards, mobile phone etc. to be nicked in situations like these! The thieves had rummaged through my entire bag, though, and obviously decided it contained nothing else of interest. Even my watch and bracelet were left...
The thieves will probably be caught - Parkside pools have CCTV operating by the lockers, and it should be easy enough to spot someone attacking them with a hammer! I post this partly as a warning to others who frequent Parkside pools, not to leave too much cash in your locker when you go swimming.
