vyvyanxLife has been strange and stressful in parts. I finished my job at the Judge on Friday. My boss gave me a plant and a box of chocolates, and a card thanking me for being a good team player and helping make progress towards better systems and resources, waffle waffle. I am in the midst of marking scripts for the third assignment for the OU course I teach. My own new short science course (S197: How the Universe works) started yesterday and is full of groovy subatomic particles. Next week I will be working at the beer festival.
G has been getting into his job at the big new Maplin at the Beehive. I have been out with him and his new coworkers several times for drinks (they go to the Regal and the Hogshead, mainly); they seem nice people, especially a Russian guy called Alex.
Today we have had some trouble from the people downstairs. They had a fight; the woman locked the guy out and then drank herself into unconsciousness in her flat. The guy (a big bald dude who looks quite alarming) spent hours hanging around outside in the road, ringing all the door buzzers to try to get in, banging repeatedly on the door downstairs to try to get in and retrieve his stuff, then lurking disturbingly in the stairwell and hiding whenever one of us went down. In the end we called the police and they had a chat to him. He has gone away for the moment, but we are worried he might come back and be angry with us for calling the police. We were going to go out for a meal but were nervous about leaving the flat unattended. I will speak to our letting agents tomorrow. God, it's like living in an episode of The Bill.
