Sep. 12th, 2005 10:30 pmToday G went to a job interview (fingers crossed) and I was annoyed by Stella. She brought an extremely small mouse or shrew or similar into the living room, chased it into my bag, and then lost interest in it. (She seems reasonably capable of catching small vertebrates, but unable to despatch them, due to her lack of teeth.) I extracted it, but it jumped from my hands and hid. I searched for a while (worried that, if I left it, it might set up home in the living room, and chew computer cables etc.) and at length found it behind the sofa. I managed to trap it in an old ice cream carton, and put it outside, where I expected it to escape quickly or die of shock. However, a couple of hours later, Stella burst in through the window a second time, with the same mouse, which she proceeded to lose a second time. I caught it again, and expelled it again, and shut Stella indoors to stop her repeating the process. (I then spotted next door's cat, which has no such lack of teeth, pouncing into the bushes where I had released the mouse, so hopefully its end was swift...)

At least Stella seems to have adjusted well to her environment. :o)
