Sep. 16th, 2005 08:41 amLast night I dreamt that Atlantis had risen again, just outside the Pillars of Hercules (and I mean just outside - about 50m - which presumably would have presented some problems for shipping). I, and a group of people mostly known to me (including
mobbsy and
feanelwa) travelled to the island to investigate. It turned out to be extremely small, but did contain some expected landmarks - a hill (more of a mound) in the middle, surrounded by seven or perhaps nine concentric circles carved out of turf. We soon discovered that it could be used as a means to travel through time, at least back to the heyday of Atlantis, or any point since. Most of the others departed on a photographic expedition to the 11th century, while
feanelwa and I remained in the present day as a sort of base of operations, keeping watch in case anything untoward happened (like the island sinking beneath the waves, perhaps). The rest of the party sent occasional photographic missives to us from the past in an old shoebox, which was somehow instrumental in the time travel. The strangest part, in retrospect, was that all of us managed to maintain a healthy skepticism about both the existence of Atlantis and the possibility of time travel throughout the dream.
