I've just spent a delightful hour or so trying to scrub half a dozen species of mould off the hall wall (where we have rising damp, which the letting agency haven't got round to dealing with yet). The different textures and behaviour of the mould were quite interesting - I wonder if there's a site where I could identify household moulds? (There was a black spotty one that seemed to eat its way into the paint and plaster; a furry beige one that formed smooth sheets, but seemed to wash off very readily; a pink type that grew in little clusters along the skirting board; a yellowish one that seemed to get on well with the black kind...)

Feel slightly light-headed now, though whether it's from the cleaning products or the mould spores I'm not sure.

I doubt you could definitely identify specific species by morphology. There are rather a lot of them.
