Nov. 2nd, 2006 09:43 pmI haven't posted anything much here for ages and ages, have I? I haven't really felt in the mood, somehow; I guess it was a phase I was going through.
Anyway, I've been doing much OU work for months and months, including a notionally full-time research position on top of my various tutoring contracts and stuff. I've also been studying the last part of the OU's introductory trilogy of maths courses, for which I had an exam two weeks ago in a hall in Wolfson College. Made a bit of a change from my Cambridge finals in the Guildhall, I must say! After these courses I think I won't be able to use my old stand-by in games of I Have Never, of never having taken maths A-level, at least if I'm adhering to the spirit rather than the letter of the rules. My plan for next year is S207: The Physical World, with its residential school in Durham. I don't think I've been to Durham before.
This last weekend, G and I went to Whitby. (Many thanks for lifts up and down to
i_am_marky and
naranek.) We didn't go to the Spa events, for various reasons, but went to the Met on Thursday, Pitch Black on Saturday and Laughton's on Sunday. We stayed with
robinbloke,
the_mendicant and several others WANOLJ, most of whom seemed inordinately interested in wool and dressmaking :-) Much of our time not spent clubbing was spent in the Elsinore, where I encountered friends old and new including
valkyriekaren,
kitty_goth,
lnr and Mike,
damerell,
ceb,
davefish and Keris,
mrph and
dmh. I'm sure I've forgotten people and am very sorry! All was good fun and much less angstful than some Whitbys I've been to.
After we got back on Tuesday, G collapsed from hedonism-induced exhaustion, and I went to WUS for the Hallowe'en event. Chatted much to
fluffyrichard who I haven't seen in ages, also said hi to
lovelyoliver,
naranek again,
darkgoblin,
blackmetalbaz and
raggedy_man. (This post is just turning into one big name-check, isn't it? But still, I haven't seen people much socially for too long, so it's good to remind myself.)
Now I'm reasonably not-busy, and it's going to be my birthday in a couple of weeks. Expect invitations!
