Jan. 21st, 2002 10:30 amSo, to elaborate. On Saturday evening, I went to the KSR, where the goths were downstairs for once. I loitered at the back of the group for a while, just behind DM and JS, who didn't notice me at first. I saw G sitting on the other side of the group, and E playing darts nearby. E came over to get a drink, and noticed me. He boggled a bit at my hair, and then said hi in a friendly way. DM noticed me, and moved to talk to me enthusiastically. He had emailed me to ask me out a week or two earlier; I'd replied vaguely positively, and then he never got back to me. He apologised for this, and said he'd been crap and nervous about it. So we chatted for some time, and sat down in the group. There were lots of balloons everywhere, and it was strange to see this bunch of goths playing with them: rubbing them on their chests to make them stick to the ceiling; having sword-fights with them; pretending to fellate them while being photographed, bursting them with cigarettes, that kind of thing.
Anyway, I was not feeling immensely cheerful about things; I was frankly rather bored with DM's conversation, and couldn't think of much to say to him, and yet felt I had no excuse not to go out with him. G was having fun with balloons with K, and E was wandering around looking devastating and being very affectionate with A. I was just feeling kind of left out and bitter. A particularly galling moment was when E and G played darts against each other - I was just thinking how lovely they both looked, and how I couldn't have either of them any more.
Later in the evening, DM got tired and went home; E and A and some others went off to watch a film at the Arts', and only a few of us were left, including G. We said hi, and smiled at each other. I thought, at least we can start talking again. G suddenly got up and came over to sit by me. We chatted a little, and he looked still uneasy, until I said "Pax", and we shook hands, and all was cool after that. I revealed that it had been me who'd got the highest score in his personal quiz on his livejournal, and he said he'd thought it was probably me. After a remarkably short time, he suddenly said, "I've got a bottle of wine back home; want to come and drink it with me?" I did a double-take, and then agreed enthusiastically. He then said I'd have to make sure he got up early the next day, though!
So...we got together again. And he says he's sorry he was a twat, and broke up with me, and that this mail from L just came at a bad moment, and he was generally crap and insecure about relationships, and I slightly misheard some of the hurtful things he said that time at the KSR before, and they weren't quite as bad as I'd thought, and ... that kind of thing. And whatever; I forgive him anyway :-)
We didn't actually go back to his place to drink wine on Saturday night; we came back to mine and went to bed straight away instead. On Sunday, G dressed up in combats and went to Ely with a friend to shoot people (and be shot) using BB guns. I slept all day. In the evening, G came round tired and muddy, but apparently having enjoyed himself. We went briefly to the KSR, where we saw E (who effectively lives there, after all!), and then got a taxi to G's place. He had to clean the bathroom and tidy his room ready for a house inspection today. We drank two bottles of wine and G played various online shooting games (being still in the mood, after the BB game earlier). Then we lazed around drunkenly, chatting about stuff.
Today we walked into town together before G went to work. I should be meeting him for lunch shortly (maybe see his friend B again).
In other news, I have lost my wallet. I think I must have left it at the KSR on Saturday, though no one's handed it in. I'll have to go to the bank now and cancel my card, order another, and get some cash out. Very annoying. Still, I look on that Saturday night like this: I didn't so much lose a wallet, as gain a partner!
