vyvyanxDid some Japanese yesterday, which is cool, especially the writing system. I'm really pleased with the books I chose for learning it; they seem very good.
In the afternoon, I finally summoned up the courage to call my mother, who I haven't spoken to for about a month. She was surprised to hear about me and D. breaking up, but later said that she thought it was the right decision. She compelled me to describe G. to her, and sounded rather dubious about him. I got rather annoyed at one point, but it was all ok in the end. Quite gruelling though.
In the evening, I went round to G's and we got a Chinese takeaway, and drank a couple of bottles of cheap wine. G. is stuck on one particular mission in Freespace, which I watched him try to complete for a while. I also played a bit of Freespace, which is very cool.
Tomorrow we're going to go to the Electric Ballroom in London for G's birthday. I've not been there before, but apparently G. has lots of friends who go there. Sounds good, anyway.
This morning, reading IRC scrollback, I get the impression that D., my ex, is getting on well with a mutual friend of ours, L. I remember, when D. and I were together, he often said that he thought he and L. were on the same wavelength, thought the same way. Shame it never worked out that way for the two of us. Somehow this has made me feel unaccountably sad.
