Jan. 23rd, 2002 12:16 pmWell, my exam meeting yesterday was pretty boring; I said almost nothing, just listened to SH getting off on her power trip. Then went to UL and produced half an Amharic list (very useful dictionary, for once, and the script is easy to transcribe). Should finish that off later today.
Then went to dentist's. Jolly Chinese woman was my dentist; she said my teeth were generally pretty good, but agreed that the front top two were getting extremely thin. She thought it was due to over-brushing, and warned me to go easy on brushing those teeth, since I'd eroded a lot of the enamel away. I didn't realise I brushed that hard! Unfortunately, the enamel is now gone for good, and I can either ignore it and try not to make it any worse, or have a small cosmetic improvement and remove the chance of over-brushing by paying for the teeth to be lacquered. On the NHS, this would cost about L70. I don't want to pay that, and I'm not that vain, so I'll just leave them how they are. She also advised me not to drink fizzy or acidic drinks, but since that would rule out cider and orange juice, which I virtually live on, I don't think that's going to happen!
Had x-ray too, then had to pay L25 for the check-up. Bloody hell. Then walked over to the PR, and G and B turned up soon. G has borrowed "Raft" and loves it too. After a pint, G and I headed off to the Corner House, where we saw assorted Camarilla people, including C and R. We ate there, but most of the rest of them buggered off to see a film about 9.30, so we hung around for a little while, chatting to some guy G knew about SF, then walked back to G's, where he insisted on playing me a not-very-funny tape involving Spock and Q.
This morning, G ignored his alarm until 8.30, and then decided not to go into work. I hurried back to college to mark essays on pidgins and creoles and language death for a supervision I'm giving in a few minutes. That's all for now.
