vyvyanxSo, what did I do yesterday? Um, after the supervision, went to town and transferred lots of money to G's account (he's lost his student account and suddenly acquired a large debt). Bought "Timelike Infinity" (in same series as "Raft"). Got food and wine for evening meal with mcv. Didn't get round to going to UL, unfortunately. Had bath, got ready, began preparing dinner. mcv arrived a bit late, and we ate. He seemed mildly disturbed that I had got back with G, but was happy for G to join our roleplaying campaign. I felt he didn't really like the dinner, though.
Then we spent ages trying to get my CD drive to work. We didn't really succeed, but it works more than it did (i.e. the BIOS at least recognises there is a CD drive there). Had to use separate IDE cables for the hard drive and CD drive in the end - it just _would_not_work_ with both on the same cable, no matter what combinations of jumpers we used. All very amusing, involving lots of screwing small screws, losing jumpers inside the box, and plugging and unplugging stuff endlessly (also rebooting endlessly; poor iguana). Anyway, I'm now playing music CDs from the headphone jack on the front, which I hadn't realised I could connect to speakers. So I needn't use D's CD player any more, which I was feeling guilty about. mcv or G will try to find a spare connector to link the drive and soundcard, since that seems to be the only possible location of the problem - we know everything else is working.
Then mcv and I sat around drinking wine for a bit, before G showed up. We all headed off to the Anchor, and met KS, PK, mbm and some other perl-ish types. The evil MK was also there, at a neighbouring table. mcv and he had a bit of a row. I drank Heineken, because it was on special offer. Everyone else said I was deranged :-) and drank Stella or Flowers.
Came back to my place; looked at email and web stuff. I have managed to change my B&B booking for Eastercon to get a double room, so G can come too now! Also, G is trying to arrange a cottage in Whitby for about 4 people (him, me, R, maybe DE from London, maybe GC). Sounds great! I'm going to Whitby after all - hurray!
Was supposed to meet G for lunch at 12 today, but fell asleep after he left for work, and woke up at 12.05. Oops. Rushed over there, and found him; he wasn't annoyed fortunately. He has lost my copy of Rendezvous with Rama, though, which I lent him. Bother.
This afternoon I really should go to the UL, and will perhaps go to the pub in the evening. Mm. And we're going to the Electric Ballroom tomorrow!
