Mm, very good night last night. G came round about 5.30, just as I was starting to get ready, and we chatted for a bit before going to get a bite to eat (Gardie's and McDonald). Then wandered off to The Graduate, where there were various role-players, as expected. After a bit, R arrived, with some CDs of music he'd kindly burnt for G, and G spent some time mulling over his imminent setlist. I watched a game of Munchkin, and chatted to a random guy in the group for a bit, about the game, webcams, role-playing conventions etc. Afterwards, various people expressed sympathy for me getting trapped by such a boring guy, but I didn't think he was so boring really. A bit before 9, G and I had to set off for the Kambar, as he was supposed to work on the door from opening time. It was unfortunately raining reasonably heavily by now, and I hadn't brought my umbrella, so we were rather wet by the time we arrived. Fortunately, I'd managed to shield my eyes from the rain, so my soluble eyeliner didn't run all down
my face :-) During the first set (GC's), I kept going up and down stairs, talking to people in the club (T, R, CW and BC mostly) and then going to see G on the door. It was very cold on the door, and people kept paying annoyingly with tenners.
When it was G's set, I got onto the dancefloor and danced continuously throughout the set, and to the beginning of the following set as well. Was quite tired afterwards! It was a good set; I knew almost all the songs, and really enjoyed a lot of them. E and R danced to most of the set too - the three of us ended up dancing to all 7 mins of Egypt Red Finland White! Also quite a bit of Bowie, some VNV and Project Pitchfork, 80s stuff, and several humorous songs. Really good time. Afterwards, G and I really needed a drink and a rest (though for different reasons) and we mostly lurked by a wall for the rest of the evening. Chatted to R, who seemed in a really good mood, and a bit to Leon, and fended off the unwelcome advances of a random guy called Stuart. Late in the evening, T and K were talking a bit to me and G; T and G's interaction was particularly amusing to watch.
Came back at last to college, drank a bit more wine and smoked a present from T while listening to more music that G hadn't had a chance to play earlier. So at last to bed. This morning, I unfortunately fell asleep again after my alarm went off, and woke up when it was too late to get G into work on time. So I had to ring up again and claim he was sick (since he's not allowed to arrive late atm) :-(
Am in good mood; just received a letter praising the quality of our department's research. I feel inspired to go and collect some more data for my programs now. Also, I need to do my laundry at some point, and will go and look for an Ultraviolence album. And I have a strangely intense desire to make a curry tonight.
