Gosh, what a decadent weekend...Woke up on Saturday and went down to clear up some of the wreckage. DE and Doogle were still there, but DE got a taxi back to London after a bit. G, D and I sat around all day then chatting vaguely and desultorily tidying a bit, and then embarked on drinking some of the alcohol left over from the party the previous night. Then we found a small piece of dope in one of G's tins, so we smoked that and watched silly Flash movies, and then decided to order a pizza, and... you get the idea. We had meant to go to the KSR about 4pm to see people, and G's brother was going to be meeting us there, but it didn't really happen like that in the end.
We got to the pub quite late in the evening, and played pool quite a bit with a random guy there. I teamed up with him for a couple of doubles games against G and D; happily, he was about as bad at pool as me. Chatted to many people; afterwards, dragged GC, Alix and Tim back to G's place, where G's brother Ian eventually turned up. G and I. went upstairs for secret fraternal chat (I'd love to know what about) and I moaned at GC in the kitchen for a bit, while A, T and L (and perhaps M) listened to punk in the living room. After a while, the others went home, and G got I. and L to go up to his room and play You Don't Know Jack, which L won convincingly. D and I sat on the bed and watched. It was very amusing. G became remarkably smashed, even for him, and broke a glass, spilt red wine on the carpet, and wound I. up by playfully hitting him every time he got a question right (or indeed, wrong). After that, watched more Flash (I am getting pretty tired of always seeing the same Flash animations now :-)
I. and L wandered off to sleep then, and G, D and I sat up drinking for a while. Conversation got very weird, and a veil is probably best drawn over the details. Sunday about noon, I got up. The room was a total wreck - there was broken glass and wine all over the carpet, a noticeboard had got pulled off the wall, there were half-empty glasses and mugs and bottles and cans everywhere, there were _three_ electric guitars strewn around the place, there were empty pizza boxes - it was just awful! But not as awful as G's hangover. Somehow, got him, I. and D organised to walk to the station, as we were supposed to go and see G's parents near Welwyn that evening. The walk to the station somehow managed to take about an hour; I'm not quite sure why. Anyway, got tickets and caught train with moments to spare. D got off at Stevenage, and the rest of us met up with G's dad in Welwyn.
Had very nice meal with G's family. G has a remarkable amount of family - parents, two brothers, aunt and Nanta were all there. I just have my parents; my other relatives I scarcely ever see, as they all live in Worthing or Aberdeen and are mostly too old to travel.
After meal, had mildly stressful conversation with G's parents about Stuff (TM), then went to station to get train back. It was cancelled; we ended up sitting on cold platforms quite a lot and eventually got back to Cambridge about 11.30, very sleepy, but laden with chocolate and champagne and other presents!
Today, I tried to call up my other relatives to tell them the news. Only managed to speak to my vegan actress aunt and my grandad in Worthing, but they both seemed delighted and wanted to meet G. It's nice that some of my relatives are happy about it. I wish my dad would get in touch, though.
