Feb. 3rd, 2002 06:01 pmSo, Friday night G and I met up with B and went to Pura, a new trendy bar just opposite the callcentre. It serves ultra-cold lager produced on a blue glowing turntable thingy, which costs L3.50. G and B tried it, they said it was OK and cold. We chatted for a while. G kind of upset me by talking a lot about past sexual exploits, but we made up. Later, the two of us went to eat at Pizza Express, then got some things from Sainsbury's for the Wake. We hung around in my room for a bit first, drinking gin and chatting. G called up R to check where we'd meet him; unfortunately he said he felt too tired to come. G was very disappointed, but agreed to come to the Wake anyway after a bit. He took quite a bit of Pro-Plus again.
The wake was pretty good. Apparently, I. and mcv had some sort of row before we got there, and mcv and M went off on a long walk to get over it, while AW and mbm also went and lurked outside for a while due to the trauma. Eventually, everyone came back and I. apologised to mcv, and things seemed ok after that. M, mcv, G and I played a game of Munchkin. It went very well for a while; I seemed close to winning, then everyone else ganged up on me and took me back to level 5. At this point G knocked a glass of gin over the cards, and the game was terminated while we all tried to dry the cards off. Then we spent a while watching M play computer games. G tried to defeat the current boss enemy in M's Wolfenstein game; he didn't succeed any more than M had. Later in the party, about 5.30 am, I felt overwhelmed by sleepiness, and went to lie down in the upstairs computer room. G came and found me after a bit; whereas he'd been sort of manic and uber-cheerful before, he now became depressed and tired.
However, shortly before dawn, we all headed off to the Mound. At this point, G really perked up, and became annoyingly bouncy, reciting the same poem to me over and over again. On the Mound, it was really windy. mcv made his invocation in Coptic, poured the libation, and pronounced the New Sun to be in the shape of a bicycle wheel with the spokes filled in. It was an excellent sun, one of the few we've actually been able to see in recent years (my sun, in 2000, was also visible, but usually they're hidden by cloud). Then we signed the book, drank mead from the horns, and headed down the hill. Most people went off to breakfast at Queens'; G tried to get me to go as well, but I was too tired, so we went back to college. Once there, he became strange and depressed again, but affectionate as well. At last we went to sleep, about 9am.
We slept much of Saturday, then mid-afternoon, I got G up and we went to hire black tie for him from Moss Bros.
(Will continue later; must go now.)
