Apr. 19th, 2002 06:09 pmLast night, got stuff from Sainsbury's and caught bus back to Chesterton with last remnants of change. Were both really hungry, so G got down to making food (great omelette for me, microwave meat-thing for him) straight away. That evening, he finished off Red Faction while I watched. It has a lame ending - no cut scene or anything, it just finishes. The very last thing you have to do doesn't actually involve any shooting - you have 45 seconds to break a code and defuse a bomb. As soon as you get part of the code right it tells you, but when you get a bit wrong, you have to start again. Essentially it's a short-term memory test, with the added excitement of a time-limit and the adrenaline racing round your veins after all the shooting. G got frustrated with it, so I did it - which was fun, and finished the game off at last.
Then G played Counterstrike until 2.30 am with R, who seemed in a particularly good mood. I read Flux, and occasionally poured G gin and tonics or rolled cigarettes for him. Pleasant evening, though unfortunately G became randomly depressed after R finished playing, and he sat up a few more hours downloading tedious Flash animations. I slept instead.
Happily, this morning he was much more cheerful, and today we have been doing various productive things concerned with finding him a job. Have also bought black henna (caca noir!) from Lush, that disturbingly pungent shop in Lion Yard, to dye G's hair black for Whitby. Should be fun - and messy! Got various picnicish things in Sainsbury's and the Cheese Company, and ate them. Mm. Will go to KSR tonight, I expect.
I have virtually given up on my dad ever getting in touch about my engagement, but too bad. His loss.
