vyvyanxWell, I've decided to close this now, as the site seems to have mangled it and lost most of the scores anyway! But I think anyone who was going to answer it has probably done so already. Here are the answers, if anyone's interested:
1: Which of these things can Vyvyan not do?
(Drive a car; Ride a bike; Swim) - I can't ride a bike. Believe me, I have tried, I just can't balance properly, and I always worry I'll fall off and injure myself.
2. Which of these films does Vyvyan like most?
(Battle Royale; The Fifth Element; Alien 3) - Alien 3. Because I saw it before the other Alien films. I know everyone else hates it, but I think it's great. I was amused how many people thought I'd like The Fifth Element - I actually despise it, and almost walked out of the cinema when I saw it.
3. What is Vyvyan most frightened of?
(Dogs; Spiders; Enclosed spaces) - Spiders. I get jittery in enclosed spaces, though, and I'm fairly scared of dogs since being attacked by one of my aunt's rescued Alsatians when I was seven, but spiders are much much worse :-)
4: Where was Vyvyan born?
(Oxford; Aberdeen; Bristol) - Bristol. Mean question really - I went to school in Oxford, and half my family come from Aberdeen, but I was in fact born in Bristol.
5. Which would Vyvyan never eat?
(Bacon; Peas; Whipped cream) - Bacon, because I'm vegetarian. I loathe peas, but I don't have a moral objection to them.
6. How many siblings does Vyvyan have?
(Two; One; None) - None. That's all there is to say about that one really!
7. Which author does Vyvyan like least?
(Charles Dickens; E M Forster; Thomas Hardy) - Dickens - urgh, unbearable sentimental repetitive nonsense. Forster is my favourite non-SF author, and Hardy I like quite well - especially Jude the Obscure (though it is about as depressing as Requiem for a Dream).
8. What colour is Vyvyan's hair _really_?
(Light red; Light brown; Dark brown) - Underneath the dye, my hair is actually dark brown, not that anyone in Cambridge will ever have seen it like that.
9. Where has Vyvyan never been?
(Russia; Australia; Canada) - I have never been to Australia. I went to Russia in 1989 on a school trip which was mainly concerned with seeing Orthodox churches, and had to share a hotel room with a girl obsessed with George Michael; and I went to Canada for a historical linguistics conference a few years ago.
10. Who does Vyvyan possess most albums by?
(Nirvana; David Bowie; Slayer) - Bowie. I spent most of my teenage years worshipping him. I have quite a bit of Nirvana, and lots of Slayer, but they just haven't produced as many albums!

Thank God for that. I'm not alone, then. French SF is funny. It's a bit like French rock'n'roll - it rarely feels convincing. I don't like Alphaville much either - although, like 5thE, it has one good joke in it. Maybe it's only French SF cinema, though - Monkey Planet's good. We read it at school.
I liked Besson's earlier films a lot, especially Subway. 5thE was a crushing disappointment. I haven't actually seen anything he's made since. I should, but I can't summon the enthusiasm.
