May. 19th, 2002 04:26 pmBored last night, but it seemed too expensive to go to the pub, so we just got extremely drunk on cheap wine and watched Groundhog Day on tv - we'd both seen it several times before, but it's a really good film which repays rewatching. I love the line where Phil is chatting to two guys in a bar late at night, all of them quite drunk, and he says something like, `How would you feel if every day of your life was exactly the same and nothing you did ever made any difference?' And one of the guys nods sagely and says, `Yep, sounds about normal.'
Tonight I'm hosting the science fiction society's games evening in my room in college; hope that'll be ok. I've also been persuaded to arrange having the Veizla in Trinity later this term - veizla means feast in Old Norse, and it's our society's annual dinner. Generally lots of fun.
Tomorrow I should buy a new hard drive for iguana, my computer, whose current drive is partially wrecked. Well, I guess it lasted quite well - I think I got it in 1997. I'm not looking forward to trying to copy stuff over and get the OS working again - I _really_ hope I don't have to reinstall all of Debian...
