May. 22nd, 2002 04:10 pmMonday started in an inauspicious way. I discovered that my fellowship will not be extended for another two years after September; had to go and pay some overdue fines at the UL; was unable to read my email or lj or news or anything due to my computer being sick; couldn't get out the book I wanted from the library because someone else had borrowed it; and finally discovered that Sainsbury's are phasing out their Economy ranges. Now what am I supposed to eat? It's most unreasonable, when town-centre Sainsbury's is the only supermarket that's sensibly-accessible to students.
However, later, the day improved, as G discovered that the jobcentre have finally decided to pay him some benefit, and we went to the beer festival and had a great time. Saw
eviltwinemma,
kboyd,
darkgoblin,
_dionysus_,
olithered,
shekhmet and many others.
Yesterday, G and I worked at the beer festival in the evening - G on security and me on the cider stall (and for a while on one of the beer stalls, which I enjoy less). Pretty busy, but we got free meals (cheese and olives - yum!), half-price drinks, and staff drinks after the session ended. Didn't get a chance to talk to people much, though I did see RI and
damerell during the course of the evening.
Now I have to rush off and buy a new hard disk, before going to work at the festival again.
