(no subject)

What a lovely day it is today! I've just walked back from Chesterton to the centre, via Jesus Green (as I usually do) and was again delighted by the quantities of small ducks and other waterfowl next to the green. It always makes me happy to see them. Ninapenda kuona wanyama na miti. (I'm learning Swahili atm; it's a totally cool language.)
Yesterday I was looking through job sites, and saw an advert for OU associate lecturers that really piqued my interest, so I spent ages filling in their downloadable application form, and sent it off straight away. That would be really cool - I could teach the things I'm interested in, and not have to leave Cambridge after all! Bonus :-) And the salary would be a small improvement on my current one.
Now, however, I'm going to attempt to move all my stuff over to my new disk...

Grr. It doesn't work. I spent ages partitioning and formatting and checking the new disk, copied everything over from the old (repaired) disk, set up LILO to boot from the new disk, rebooted, changed the BIOS to boot from the new disk...and it won't boot. Happily I can still boot from my old disk (just about), but I don't want to rely on it! Oh this is tiresome. Still, I shall go to the Empire house-cooling tonight and moan at people about it - that should make me feel better.
