I have been extremely productive today. In spite of getting very little sleep last night, too. (Went to bed exhausted about 1 am; G woke me a couple of hours later coming to bed; I lay awake for an hour, then fell asleep; he woke me again an hour later with a terrible coughing/asthma attack out of the blue, which lasted a couple of hours; he then fell asleep, but I couldn't get back to sleep, so got up). I got ever so much done on my article. Endless faffing with pretty tables in Word. They look very nice now. I think tables are about the only things that are easier and quicker to do on word processors than batch typesetters. It took me days to create the same table in Lout. Of course, it's a shame I have to waste time redoing the whole thing in a different format at all, but the publishers require it _just_so_, so I have to change it. And all the bibliography has to be redone. God I hate reformatting references. It's so petty and anal, fiddling around making sure you have commas rather than full stops after the date, and full stops rather than commas after the journal title, or whatever. I once lost a mark on an MPhil dissertation because one of the commas in my bibliography was accidentally italicized. Can you believe the kind of person who checks all the commas in what they're marking, to see if they're italic or not?!
Anyway, tonight we were going to be going to a party, but G felt too ill, so we didn't. Oh yes, today has also contained various job-related stress: more letters back from people G applied to, saying they're not asking him for interview, and the guy at Brook Street seemed really pissed off at G for asking him about this job again (though he did agree to put him forward for it in the end). Grr. Agencies are evil.

Agencies *are* evil, and bloody useless too. They have no right to shout at G - if there were no clients they wouldn't get placements and wouldn't get paid. We ought to all get together and have a military takover of all the agencies and run it properly ourselves.
