Oct. 30th, 2002 02:08 pmCalling was quite good last night - virtually _everyone_ was there. Much pleasant chatting and stuff; tried not to drink _too_ much so G could get into work at a reasonable time today. Can't help comparing it with the Hallowe'en Calling last year, which really was not good at all from my perspective. But then that part of last year was generally pretty chaotic for me.
Yesterday I carved a swede with a scary face. Swedes are quite hard, and challenging to hollow out effectively, but I don't like eating pumpkin. Mm, mashed swede.
G and I are rather concerned that his contract at the Jobcentre may not be renewed after next month, which would mean a return to the endless unbearable jobhunting - this time with _both_ of us looking for work. I had a nice chat over coffee with
oakdryad yesterday afternoon, however, about post-academia job prospects mostly, and she's lent me an interesting book called "What else you can do with a PhD". It seems quite positive and cheering so far.
Oh, I wish this foul drizzle would go away. It's sapping my will to live.
