Busy weekend. Lovely time at R's on Friday night - watched The Usual Suspects (which I found very confusing) and Memento, which I thought was less confusing and a great film. And drank (but not too much) and had nice pasta. Thanks!

Got bus back to town with G early on Saturday morning. He went off to help on the Games and Puzzles stall at the Mind Sports Olympiad, where I came to see him later in the day. Ran in ADW, who was on the organising committee. In evening, G and I met up with AS, his fiancee, and some other friends of theirs in the Regal and later in the Fountain (which now does real ale, as [livejournal.com profile] timeplease pointed out a while back).

Sunday, G was again off to work on the stall. I came over about midday with sandwiches, and helped on the stall for a bit, selling trading cards to annoying children, mostly. Also chatted a bit to [livejournal.com profile] angoel, MHF and MR who were there for the Go tournament. Managed to do the wooden puzzle where you have to reassemble a string of swivelling blocks into a 3x3x3 cube, which I'd failed to do on Friday in the shop. In the evening, G and I met at the station to go down to Welwyn Garden City for his brother's birthday meal. Nice food; nice chat (mainly to G's mum and aunt). Got train back and went to bed early. Had argument with G about money and then was too upset to sleep for hours.

This morning: G off again to help on stall. Will take him sandwiches later. Also have some OU work to do. I should ring my mum and tell her I didn't get the jobs I applied for (I've been putting this off; she'll probably be much more upset about it than I was). G still cross with me over argument last night, though he says his crossness is unjustified. It doesn't help.

Gosh. You found The Usual Suspects less confusing than Memento? One of us shall have to explain one of them to the other someday. (-: (I think I have both on tape somewhere...)

I think I always find police and detective dramas very confusing. I always had to get my mum to explain Taggart to me when I lived at their house!

Ah - it may be relevant that I guess I have watched many such shows, old and new, British and American, fact and fiction, police-based and lawyer-based, over the years, and I still do, from The Sweeney and Ironside right up to Wire in the Blood and Law and Order: Criminal Intent (last night), the main exception being that I avoid the amateur-sleuth TV series.

With Memento I still have very many basic questions about what was really going on, but I shall avoid leaving any spoilers here!

I should add that some of my friends are very much better at figuring out what will happen, long before it happens, than I am; I'm only reasonable at after-the-show stuff. Though, I had the most recent West Wing well-pegged early on in the episode.
