Sale of Goods Act etc.

Does anyone know anything about / have any experience with getting refunds or replacements for stuff (computer bits particularly) which failed after an unreasonably short time? Recent cam.misc posts suggested to me that the Sale of Goods Act and similar might be relevant, but the text of these on the web is rather obscure and I'm not certain!

I'm afraid I don't know and am probably not telling you anything new, but FWIW the places I would start looking would be the web pages of the CAB, Trading Standards, and the Small Claims Court.
