It has been quite a busy weekend. Up very early on Saturday to get train to Nottingham to give Open University tutorial; it seemed to go well. On the way back, was finishing marking a few late TMAs, when an obnoxious drunk guy came and sat opposite me and began harassing me - making indecent suggestions, snapping his fingers in my face to try to attract my attention, grabbing my hand, and then swearing at length at me when I asked him not to touch me. I doggedly ignored him and to my relief he got off at Peterborough. Various other nearby passengers gave me sympathetic looks. TBH, if he'd carried on much longer, I'd probably have got up and looked for another seat, but the train was busy and I really wanted to hang onto my table seat so that I could do my marking on it!

Shortly after getting home,

robinbloke came and picked us up to go to

karohemd's party, which was very enjoyable. Lovely food, interesting conversations about dialectal variation with

karohemd and about dyslexia with a plumber called Paul. G became enormously drunk but didn't do anything too awful :-) Stayed night at

robinbloke's, then he drove us back to Cambridge early on Sunday afternoon for

mageboltrat's party. Met chap called Andy Penguin; he brought a very strange CD called A Shoggoth on the Roof which was, well, a Cthulhu-based take-off of Fiddler on the Roof (with eg. "Tentacles!" being sung in place of "Tradition!"). Later, watched Equilibrium, which has a plot similar to Farenheit 451, and a general atmosphere like The Matrix crossed with Gattaca; worth seeing, I reckon.

I'm back to work tomorrow. No marking this week - hurrah! G is going to dentist for his final tooth-fixing session in the recent batch tomorrow, and then he starts his new job at Maplins on Wednesday.
