I believe [livejournal.com profile] kaet has sometimes mentioned the BBC website's habit of reusing generic images in many articles - particularly a picture of a specific chimp in any item related to primates. I am often amused by the cursor-activated captions for such images - for instance the delightfully literal description of the picture at the top of http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/3602574.stm
or

(scroll down half way to the woman holding her head in her hands)
or even the totally irrelevant kangaroo image near the end of
