Well, yesterday I tidied up my room and posted a couple of things, made dinner, ate it and washed up, then read a bit till people started arriving for the games evening. This was preceded, however, by the AGM and election of committee members for next year (I managed to avoid being elected to anything, other than remaining as Senior Treasurer!). After that, no one else had brought any games for once, so I produced paper and pens and we played SF pictionary, which was quite fun, though our team lost by one point.
G arrived back from his parents' during the game; they've agreed to keep helping him keep the room in Cambridge provided he tries extra-hard to find another job. So, cool! He'd also brought his guitar with him from home, and played it a little. He's left it in my room now; I might have a little play of it later :-)
I don't feel enormously well atm, but I should go and do organisational-type things today. I will post a cheque for the remaining amount to Whitby cottages; I will return some books to the college library and try to take out Njalssaga to photocopy for our Old Norse reading group, which should be starting up again shortly; I will do my laundry and have a bath. Other things that need to be done in the near future are: sort out actual tickets for Whitby, and sort out transport to Eastercon. God, it's such a faffle, organising membership, accommodation and transport for two separate con-type things; I hate this sort of thing. I need a secretary :-)

Oh, I thought of something else. I want to collect a bit more data for some of the Uralic languages in my dataset, so that I can put them into my biological subgrouping program, on the assumption that Indo-Uralic is a valid entity (which my Nostratic research has pretty much persuaded me of, though the rest of Nostratic is more dubious). That will be fun (or rather, I'm looking forward to seeing the results, if not actually collecting the data: after collecting about 150 wordlists, the excitement has palled somewhat :-).
Calories consumed yesterday: approx. 1800.

Well! I have been very busy today so far. Packed up laundry, went to Porters' Lodge to buy tokens, went to laundry room to put clothes in, went back to room, got books, returned them to library, borrowed Njalssaga, went to Buttery to get new college card but it was shut, went to photocopying room and photocopied Njal, went to room, emailed people about Norse group, wrote cheque for Whitby and put that and one set of photocopies in envelopes, went and posted them in two different mailboxes (one internal, one external), went to change laundry over to dry, went to room and had bath etc, went to Buttery and asked about card (can collect it tomorrow), went to laundry to collect clothes, went to room and put them away, played G's guitar a bit, entered Finnish and Hungarian data in lexical database, have now set program running to analyse it (it will take ages).
So, I feel I can reasonably laze around tonight and have G cook for us, and get drunk etc.

Hey, wonderful! My program's finished its run, and it's such an exciting result! It supports Indo-Hittite, which is really cool! Finnish and Hungarian link together quite closely, then there's an _enormous_ branch linking them to Indo-European, and the point where the lines join can be regarded as Proto-Indo-European. The first division is between Hittite and everything else, then Albanian breaks off, then Greek, then Indo-Iranian and Balto-Slavic in very close succession, then Germanic, finally leaving a core of Italo-Celtic! Wonderful! I need to go and collect more data now for the Uralic languages, so I can establish a point on the line which corresponds to Proto-Uralic (I just need to include Kamassian to achieve that, actually). Also I should get a list for Armenian, that would be cool, then I would have representation of all the branches of IE. I wonder where it would fit on my tree?
